The conference chair requested advertising postcards, web site, and such. The stylised and electrified observatory I designed reflects the nature of virtual observatories. I was also asked to chair the local organising committee, on a volunteer basis, which meant lots of hard work the months leading up to, and especially the week of, the conference.
